Teen Volunteer Application Information

Sunday Program Application Instructions

There are three parts to your application: the application, the letter of recommendation, and the interview.  In order to be considered for a volunteer position, all parts of your application must be completed on time. Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2015.

  1. Click here to open the application form in Microsoft Word.
Please include a photo of yourself with your application.
There is one short answer question and one essay question at the end of the application:
    • Short Answer (2-5 sentences): Why do you want to volunteer with Gateways?
    • Essay Question (250-750 words):
Tell one story about yourself that would best provide us, either directly or indirectly, with an insight into the kind of person you are. For example, the story can simply relate a personal experience, challenge you have faced, humorous anecdote; it can tell about an especially significant academic encounter or about an unusual test of character.
  2. Click here to download the Letter of Recommendation form.
Letters sent in the mail that are postmarked on June 5, 2015 will be considered on time.
Please note: When asking someone (a teacher, coach, employer, school counselor, etc.) for a letter of recommendation, it is important to be considerate by giving that person plenty of time to write it (at least 2 weeks). Letters of recommendation can be mailed, emailed or faxed by the letter writer, or returned in a sealed envelope to the applicant who can be responsible for submitting the letter to Gateways. All contact information can be found on the form.
  3. Interviews will take place between May 10 and June 11, 2015.  Times and links to sign up will be coming soon.
Please note: Interviews last approximately 10-15 minutes. Be prepared to talk about yourself and have fun! If you need to reach us on the day of your interview, please call the main office at 617-630-9010.
