Sweet Sounds: An Afternoon of Jazz & Chocolate
Gateways is pleased to honor Helen Tager-Flusberg, PhD, a dedicated friend of Gateways and a founding member of the first Board of Directors of Etgar L'Noar (one of two organizations that merged to form Gateways).
Dr. Tager-Flusberg is currently Professor in the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology and Pediatrics at Boston University School of Medicine and Professor of Psychology at Boston University. She has conducted research on autism and other developmental disorders for over 25 years, investigating developmental changes in language and social cognition using behavioral and brain imaging methodologies. Her research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and private foundations, including Autism Speaks, the March of Dimes and the Nancy Lurie Marks Family Foundation. She is also Vice Chair of the NIH/Autism Speaks Baby Sibling Research Consortium, and a member of the Steering Committee for the recently established Boston-based Autism Consortium, a group of autism specialists committed to working together on autism research.
This fun event begins at 4pm at Congregation Mishkan Tefila Chestnut Hill. Background jazz and a kosher champagne and chocolate buffet can be enjoyed until 6:00pm.
Gateways will also present the second annual Samuel A. Nemzoff Book Prize to Mrs. Tova Rabinowitz, a teacher in the Torah Academy of Brookline, MA, who exemplifies the ideals and practices which allow all students to receive a Jewish education. The award is named for Samuel Nemzoff, who was an early leader in providing classes and support for students with disabilities. The award is given in his memory by his daughter, Ruth Nemzoff and her family.
